To me she’s a real arthead, to the nth- degree. & she reminds me of both sides of my blood.
My mother’s dad (b. 1909) built a fruit tree & grapevine laden oasis in Cleveland, strung up between the house my grandmother ruled and his literal Vulcan forge that he turned their garage into. He rebuilt Caddys for fun after retiring (from I think Ford? He was chilling by the time I arrived)- those vintage, crazy ones you could fn drag race back in the day.& he’d toss us kids in the backseat (no seatbelts) &tear through the hills in town when he needed to get it out of his system. & I would hang while my granddad happily did his car stuff- I was the only one who did [Hephaestusian Virgo Vulcan sanctuary] , but I never was allowed to do more than pass tools, if that lol.
& my deejay dad’s day job was as a Machinist for TRW, but on the way to that he did everything from welding to carpentry, plumbing-he could build anything & when he started applying that to houses they flipped he just tossed us in the car to go with as he did it. He turned our home into an oasis too- only thing he couldn’t do to the same space was electrical-& he did it anyway, which was always the running joke- that we was gone die due to his electrical “artistry”. He could do it… but compared to all else it was like a 5.
The point is, my first regular/routine art store excursions from like 3 were his hardware stores. To this day I can turn an ACe hardware out, arthead style. I would damn near spazz whenever he’d say he had to go. I have relied that formative “blue collar arthead” for every on the road show build out and mural done, too.
Liziqi is just bombastic with it in her introverted gloriousness. She’s onna farm out in the middle of China, hanging off a mountain just throwing down, building out her own xanadu sanctuary. & she goes & learns from elder artheads allatime- &its not showy perfection… it’s just her Loving on herself & those in her care, documented. It’s her style.
&she cooks from scratch aalllllIatiiime- I fackin love her lol.
