Hiphop started as the expression of a defiant lifeline, a sonic protest of the Black American struggle against the viciousness of the American Experience… one that showed itself as poetry the way only survived trauma & survived brutality can.

& the American corporate beast…bled the communities dry via it, poisoned the communities via supporting those willing to speak toxicity back into said places…and then commodified it for the fucking world as “IT’s” own product.

“It was never the native tongue of the vicious colonizers. It was the heartbeat of those having t0 find ways to live their lives with that beast on their ass.

It was the sounds of the corporations posing as America out in the world heard as they crushed Black souls, trying to make their shareholders coin.

The same Iranian community that released all the Black hostages 40 yrs ago because that Iranian community saw Black Americas as being as abused at home by the USA powers that be as they were abroad…

The kids of those folks picking up that beat, that patois, that rhythm to use it in propaganda pointed at the USA?

Honestly? of all the Kpop pop, even Bollywood and homegrown whitely R&B abominations and co-opts of Hip hop & R&B sound sans ANY respect normally given?

Actually~ on paper is the most technically honorable application of appropriation witnessed of this motif in my life.

The reason “America” is failing in the SM war is because all the “stuff” Iran is using is “stuff” racist America took from Black & Brown people’s creative pursuits/geists/ hustles and commodified , and has spent 50 yrs selling back to the world like the racist American corporate juggernaut created ANY of what they send out into the world AS American….without bothering to comprehend how to make It in earnest themselves.

They recognize it, but only in key with the warmly held memories of sounds of stomping out life-force for the sake of white supremacist ‘expansion.’

& in the aftermath of that they can only relate to it with hostility because of how it seeped out of those left for dead …and…the sound of it rips across their senses like the beating of the Telltale Heart under the floorboards because it was supposed to have been, for all intents and purposes been utterly snuffed out…

& now they quake in abject fear at even the mention of hiphop because the poisoned variants they packaged to rain down on Black America like the plague …have become the panacea of choice to the next generation of their kids against what those same sick fuck parents did to there own kids back at home.

They have watched helplessly as the exact same sounds colonized the minds of their own kids after wiping out the prospects of those they wanted it to cripple.

They can’t compete here.

They are the ones whose abuses have ripped open holes all over the world that healed themselves via hiphop & R&B. Though the teeth are in the USA beast’s mouth…the USA is only now (with tdawg in office a second time) truly getting a taste of what it feels like to be bitten by said beast.

so in the aftermath of all this…some phenomenal rap stars who survived all this are going to emerge.
