It's in the protective clips of anyone who has worked under him on his movies. It's all over the joyful insanity his dojo sons and their dojo uncles reverberate with. It's even in how I've seen this man answer fanboy questions, in video interviews and in person, with the same verbose simplicity and sincerity. I've seen him dodge a snarkhit on stage and aikido pivot into spotlighting the crazy stunt boys under his wing for their excellence in front of people just learning those kids names.
I love him for it because I can see and have always seen that's a conscious choice with that guy. He chooses to move like that. Yeah, he's still a martial arts jock boy. He's still full-on a toothpick corner of the mouth, obviously can be a brute when he feels like it...guy. BUT he knows that these motherfuckers looking up to him are entrusted to him in a weird way. He'll break you like Pai Mei to get you to where you claim you wanna go in all that movie mess... but you'll hobble away with the five finger thingie if you do apply yourself to the journey YOU swore you wanted to take up.
